Laser On Tour Consent Form and Treatment Terms

Please read the following conditions carefully before and on the day of your consultation and patch test.

This document explains the laser hair removal procedure, the responsibilities of both the client and practitioner, the possible side effects of treatment, and the terms that apply to your treatment course.

You will complete this consent form online before your consultation. On the day of your consultation and patch test, your practitioner will review the information with you, discuss your treatment plan, answer any questions and confirm whether it is safe and appropriate to proceed.

By signing this form, you confirm that you understand the treatment procedure, possible side effects and the terms of your treatment course, and you consent to your practitioner carrying out your consultation, patch test and, where suitable, future treatments.

Health and Medical Information

Tell us about any medical conditions, medication or changes to your health so we can treat you safely.

I confirm that I have answered all questions about my health, medication and skin accurately and to the best of my knowledge.

I understand that certain medical conditions, medications and supplements can affect how my skin responds to laser treatment and how it heals afterwards.

It is my responsibility to inform my practitioner before every appointment if:

  • My health or medical history changes.
  • I begin taking any new medication.
  • I take antibiotics, oral steroids or medication that may make my skin sensitive to light.
  • I begin taking herbal supplements, including St John’s Wort.
  • I develop a skin condition, infection, open wound or unusual change to the treatment area.
  • I become pregnant.

I understand that failing to disclose relevant information may increase the risk of an adverse skin reaction and may prevent my practitioner from treating me safely.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Understand how laser works, why only growing hairs can be treated and why multiple sessions are needed.

Laser hair removal works by directing controlled light energy into the pigment within the hair. This energy is converted into heat and is used to disable the hair follicle during its active growing phase.

This active stage is known as the anagen phase.

At any one time, only approximately 15% of body hair is in the anagen phase. The remaining hairs may be resting, shedding or dormant and cannot be effectively targeted until they enter the active growing phase.

This is why laser hair removal requires a course of treatments rather than one single treatment. Each session aims to target a different group of hairs as they enter the anagen phase.

Number and Timing of Treatments

Learn why a minimum of 8 treatments is recommended and how we time treatments for the best results.

I understand that I will require a minimum course of 8 treatments for Laser Hair Removal to be effective and I will also need maintenance sessions in the future.

Our track record shows that the majority of clients achieve outstanding results within 8 sessions. However, some clients may require additional treatments due to factors including:

  • Hair colour and thickness
  • Skin type
  • Hormonal activity
  • Genetics
  • Medication
  • Dormant hair follicles becoming active

No practitioner can accurately predict the exact number of sessions that every individual will require.

Treatments will usually be scheduled approximately 4 to 12 weeks apart, depending on the area being treated, the client’s individual hair-growth cycle and the advice of the practitioner.

The practitioner may ask the client to provide photographs between appointments so that new hair growth can be reviewed and the most appropriate treatment date can be selected.

For the best results, I agree to follow the recommended treatment intervals and attend when the practitioner advises that sufficient new growth has entered the correct phase.

I understand that following the treatment intervals recommended by my practitioner is important. Missing appointments or leaving long gaps between treatments may mean the optimal hair growth cycle is missed, making treatment less effective and requiring additional sessions.

Dormant Hair and Maintenance Treatments

Find out why new hair can appear in the future and why occasional maintenance treatments may be needed.

I understand that the body contains millions of hair follicles and that some follicles can remain dormant for months or years.

Dormant follicles may later become active due to factors including:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Pregnancy
  • Stress
  • Ageing
  • Medication
  • Medical conditions
  • Conditions such as PCOS or raised androgen levels

Male clients, clients with hormonal conditions & people going through transition may require more treatments or more frequent maintenance due to continuing hormonal stimulation of hair growth.

Completing a course of 8 treatments does not prevent previously dormant follicles from becoming active in the future.

This does not mean that the original treatment has failed. Hair follicles that were successfully treated during the anagen phase remain disabled, but newly activated follicles may require treatment when they begin to grow.

I agree to monitor the treated areas after completing my initial course and contact my practitioner when new growth becomes noticeable.

A maintenance treatment may be recommended when approximately 20% of your original hair growth becomes visible again.

Delaying maintenance for too long may allow more follicles to become active and could result in additional treatments being required.

Any additional or maintenance treatments following the original course will be charged at the practitioner’s standard session rate unless otherwise agreed.

Hair Removal Between Treatments

Only shave between appointments. Avoid removing hair from the root so the laser can work effectively.

I understand that I must not wax, pluck, thread, epilate or use any method that removes the hair from the root during my treatment course.

The laser requires the hair follicle to remain in place so that it can be targeted effectively.

Shaving is permitted and is the recommended method of hair removal between appointments because it removes the visible hair while leaving the follicle intact.

I understand that treatment may need to be postponed if I have removed the hair from the root and there is not enough suitable hair present for the laser to target.

Sunbeds, Sun Exposure and Tanning

Protect your skin before treatment. Excessive tanning increases the risk of side effects.

I understand that sunbed use is prohibited throughout my treatment course because it increases the amount of pigment in the skin and can significantly increase the risk of burns, blistering and pigmentation changes.

A mild, natural tan can usually be treated safely, provided your practitioner assesses your skin and adjusts the treatment settings where appropriate. However, excessively tanned skin may be sunburnt or damaged. For your safety, treatment cannot be carried out if the skin is excessively tanned, sunburnt, peeling, inflamed, or recovering from significant sun exposure.

Treating excessively tanned or burnt skin may increase the risk of:

  • Burning.
  • Blistering.
  • Hyperpigmentation, where the skin becomes darker.
  • Hypopigmentation, where the skin becomes lighter.
  • Delayed healing.
  • Permanent skin changes in rare cases.

I agree to inform my practitioner of any excessive sun exposure before and during my treatment course. Going on holiday does not usually prevent treatment, as we can plan your appointments around your travel. However, we recommend avoiding excessive sun exposure for 2–3 weeks before your treatment session to allow your skin to recover fully and minimise the risk of burns, pigmentation changes and other adverse skin reactions.

I understand that my appointment may be postponed if the practitioner believes that my skin cannot be treated safely. This is necessary to protect my skin, although delaying treatment may mean that the most suitable stage of the hair-growth cycle is missed.

A cancellation fee may apply where treatment cannot proceed because excessive tanning, sunburn or skin damage was not disclosed before the practitioner travelled to or prepared for the appointment.

I agree to use SPF 50+ on exposed treatment areas throughout my course, particularly during periods of increased sunlight.

Fake Tan

Fake tan must be removed before treatment because it can increase the risk of skin reactions.

Fake tan must not be applied within two weeks before treatment.

Fake tan residue can remain on the surface of the skin even when it is no longer clearly visible. This residue may absorb laser energy and increase the risk of an adverse skin reaction.

I agree to tell my practitioner if fake tan has been applied to the treatment area. Treatment may be postponed if residue remains.

Patch Testing

A patch test helps us assess your skin and choose safe, effective treatment settings.

I understand that a patch test is required for each area I intend to have treated before a full treatment is carried out.

The purpose of a patch test is to:

Assess how my skin responds to the laser.

Help identify an appropriate setting.

Reduce the risk of an excessive skin reaction.

Confirm that it is appropriate to proceed with treatment.

The initial consultation and patch test fee is £50, unless otherwise agreed with my franchise owner. If you are not suitable the practitioner will refund you.

I understand that I may require a new patch test:

  • Before treating a new area.
  • If there has been a significant change to my medical history, medication or skin condition.

  • If I have not received treatment on the relevant area for six months.
  • If the practitioner believes that a further patch test is required for safety.

A successful patch test reduces risk but cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur during a full treatment.

Shedding After Treatment

Shedding is a normal part of the process and shows treated hairs are being released.

I understand that treated hairs do not disappear immediately.

The shedding process usually begins approximately 7 to 14 days after treatment and may continue for several weeks.

During this time, treated hairs may appear to continue growing as they are gradually released from the hair follicle. This is a normal part of the process and does not mean that the treatment has been unsuccessful.

To help the shedding process, we recommend avoiding excessive shaving during this period. Instead, gently exfoliate the area with an exfoliating mitt or glove, following your practitioner's advice, to help release the treated hairs naturally.

Shedding may be less visible in areas where the hair is lighter, finer or slower-growing.

I agree to provide photographs or updates when requested so that my practitioner can review my response and make any necessary adjustments to future treatment settings or timings.

Possible Side Effects

Understand the common and rare side effects, so you know what to expect after treatment.

I understand that temporary skin reactions can occur following laser hair removal.

Common reactions include:

  • Redness
  • Warmth
  • Itching
  • Mild swelling around the hair follicles
  • Temporary tenderness or sensitivity

These reactions usually settle within 72 hours, although clients with sensitive or reactive skin may experience redness, swelling or irritation for up to two weeks.

Less common side effects include:

Superficial crusting or rash
A superficial brown scale, crusting or gravel-like rash may occasionally develop after treatment and usually resolves within several days, although it can occasionally take a few weeks.

Pigmentation changes
Hyperpigmentation (darkening) or hypopigmentation (lightening) of the skin may occur, particularly in darker or recently tanned skin. These changes usually improve over time but, in very rare cases, may be permanent.

Folliculitis or acne-like spots
Laser treatment may temporarily trigger folliculitis or acne-like spots. This is more common on beard areas, the back and chest but can occur anywhere.

Bruising or mottling
Bruising or mottling may occur, particularly in clients who bruise easily or have circulation conditions such as Raynaud's syndrome. This normally resolves with time.

Paradoxical hypertrichosis
In rare cases, laser hair removal may stimulate increased hair growth in or around the treated area. If this occurs, your treatment plan may be adjusted or alternative treatment options discussed.

Burns, blistering or scarring
Although uncommon, burns or blistering can occur. In some cases, this may result in temporary or permanent pigmentation changes or, rarely, scarring. Patch testing, appropriate treatment settings and accurate disclosure of your medical history, medication, sun exposure and tanning significantly reduce this risk but cannot eliminate it completely.

Pregnancy

Treatment is paused during pregnancy and can safely resume afterwards.

I understand that Laser On Tour does not perform laser hair removal during pregnancy.

If I become pregnant during my course, I agree to inform my practitioner immediately and pause treatment.

Pregnancy and post-pregnancy hormonal changes may activate dormant hair follicles or alter the hair-growth cycle. As a result, I may require additional sessions when treatment resumes.

My course may be extended to allow for pregnancy, subject to agreement with my franchise owner.

A refund will not normally be provided solely because treatment is paused due to pregnancy, as the remaining treatments can be resumed after pregnancy when it is considered appropriate and safe.

Appointment Cancellations

Please give sufficient notice if you need to rearrange your appointment to avoid cancellation charges.

My practitioner reserves appointment time specifically for my treatment and may also travel to my home with specialist equipment.

I agree to provide at least 72 hours’ notice if I need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Where less than 72 hours’ notice is provided, a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the treatment value may apply.

A cancellation fee may also apply if treatment cannot proceed because:

  • Relevant medical or medication information was not disclosed.
  • Fake tan residue is present.
  • The skin is excessively tanned, burnt or damaged.
  • Hair has been waxed, plucked, threaded or removed from the root.
  • The treatment area has not been prepared as instructed.
  • The client is otherwise unsuitable for treatment for a reason that should reasonably have been disclosed before the appointment.

These fees reflect the practitioner's reserved time, travel and the loss of an appointment that may not be possible to offer to another client at short notice.

Treatment Course, Payments and Refunds

Understand how your course, payments, maintenance sessions and refunds are managed.

I understand that I am purchasing laser hair removal treatments from my local Laser On Tour franchise owner.

The price, payment schedule and any agreed payment arrangement will be confirmed with the franchise owner before the course begins.

Courses are normally paid for in advance or under an agreed payment plan.

If I choose to discontinue or abandon my course, payments already made and the value of any unused sessions are non-refundable, except where required by law or otherwise agreed in writing by the franchise owner.

Refunds may be considered in exceptional circumstances involving serious illness, subject to suitable medical evidence and the agreement of the franchise owner.

A full course of 8 sessions is valid for up to 20 months, unless an extension is agreed because of pregnancy, serious illness or another exceptional circumstance.

If I fail to communicate with my practitioner or allow more than 12 weeks to pass without treatment or contact, despite being advised to attend, sessions may be treated as missed or may become void in accordance with the agreed terms.

I understand that failing to follow the recommended treatment schedule may reduce the effectiveness of my course and may result in additional sessions being required.

Dedicated Practitioner

A key principle of the Laser On Tour service is that we aim to provide you with the same dedicated practitioner throughout your treatment journey, allowing them to get to know you, your skin and your progress. While we make every effort to maintain this continuity of care, it cannot be guaranteed. Laser On Tour reserves the right to transfer your treatment to another dedicated, Laser On Tour practitioner where necessary to ensure the continuity and quality of your treatment.

Treatment Results and Guarantees

Understand what results you can realistically expect and why they vary between individuals.

Laser hair removal results vary between individuals because of biological, hormonal and genetic factors.

The treatment permanently disables many of the follicles successfully treated during the active anagen phase. However, it is not scientifically possible to target every follicle at the same time or guarantee that dormant follicles will never become active in the future.

Our track record shows that the majority of clients achieve outstanding results within a minimum course of 8 sessions. Some clients may need further treatments or ongoing maintenance.

I understand that:

  • No guarantee can be made regarding the exact level of hair removal I will achieve.
  • No guarantee can be made regarding the number of treatments I will require.
  • My results may differ from photographs, testimonials or the experiences of other clients.
  • Maintenance treatments may be necessary.
  • Results may be affected if I do not follow the recommended advice or treatment schedule.
  • Nothing in this consent form excludes any legal responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded. However, I understand that my practitioner cannot be held responsible simply because my individual results differ from my expectations where treatment has been carried out appropriately and in good faith.

Photography Consent

Photographs may be taken to record my progress, support treatment planning and compare results.

Clinical progress photographs will be stored confidentially in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy. I understand that my decision will not affect my treatment.

Where promotional use has been authorised, my identity will remain confidential unless I provide separate written permission for it to be disclosed.
